A real expert in your ear, at your own pace.

Rosetta Audio Guides turns your phone into a museum guide. Download an expert-narrated audio tour of a museum or heritage site, put your headphones in, and wander at your own pace — pausing, replaying and lingering wherever you like. No fixed-time group, no rushing to keep up, no guide to tip. Just the story of what you are looking at, told well, exactly when you want it, working fully offline once downloaded to your phone.

Why an audio tour

The freedom of a guide, without the group.

A good human guide is wonderful and a rushed group tour is not. An audio tour gives you the knowledge of the former with the freedom you lose in the latter — you go where you like, at the speed you like, and the expert is always there but never hurrying you. Here is what that actually means in a museum.

Your pace, not the group's

Linger an hour at one case or skip a gallery entirely — the tour waits for you. Pause to read a label, replay a passage you loved, come back to a room later. The visit is yours to shape.

How it works →

Works fully offline

Download a tour before you go and it works with no signal at all — essential inside thick-walled museums where phones lose reception. No data, no buffering, no spinning wheel at the door.

About offline mode →

Real expertise, told well

Our tours are written by people who know the collections and narrated by professional voices — not a flat machine reading, but a story that brings what you are seeing to life.

From download to listening

Four steps and you're touring.

Getting a tour into your ears takes a couple of minutes, and you do most of it before you even leave for the museum.

1

Get the free app

Download the Rosetta Audio Guides app — free, on iOS or Android. The app itself costs nothing; you only pay for the tours you choose, and several are free to try.

2

Choose a tour

Browse the tour library, pick the museum or site you are visiting and the language you want, and download the tour to your phone in seconds.

3

Download for offline

The tour saves to your phone so it plays with no signal inside the museum. Do this on the hotel wi-fi and you need no data at all on the day. The offline mode explains how.

4

Listen and wander

Headphones in, press play, and explore at your own pace. The tour follows the natural route, but you are free to skip, pause and replay however suits you.

Who we are

A small studio in Rashid, making tours we'd want ourselves.

Rosetta Audio Guides is made by Delta Audio Heritage, a small studio in Rashid — historic Rosetta, where the famous stone was found — on the Mediterranean edge of the Delta. We started it because the audio guides we used on our own travels were so often dreadful: clipped, lifeless, read by a machine or a bored actor, telling you dates instead of stories. We thought museum audio could be far better — properly researched, warmly narrated, genuinely worth listening to — and that a phone app was the way to deliver it without the clunky rental handsets of old.

So that is what we build: tours we would actually want in our own ears. We are a product studio, not a museum or a tour operator, and we say so plainly. The full story is on the about page, how the app works in detail on the how it works page, and the museums and sites we cover on the museum partners page.

Quick answers

What people ask before downloading.

Is the app free?

The app is free to download, and several tours are free to try. Most full tours are a small one-off purchase, or you can take a pass that unlocks everything — the options are on the pricing page. There is no subscription you are forced into.

Will it work without internet in the museum?

Yes — that is the whole point of the offline download. Save a tour to your phone before you go (on wi-fi, say at your hotel) and it plays with no signal at all inside the museum. The offline mode page explains it fully.

Are you the museums themselves?

No, and we never claim to be. We are an independent audio-guide studio that makes tours of museums and sites; we are not the museums or a government body. Where a museum is an official partner, we say so on the partners page.

What languages are the tours in?

The core tours are available in several languages, narrated by native speakers rather than machine-translated. Which tour is in which language is shown in the app and on the languages page before you download.

Is it good for children?

Yes — many tours have a family version made specially for younger listeners: shorter, livelier, full of things to spot and stories to follow, so a museum visit becomes an adventure rather than a lecture they endure. The family tours page explains how they work, and they are included with the all-tours pass.

Do you collect my data?

Almost none. The app needs no account, does not track your location, builds no profile of you, and contains no advertising — it exists to play you a tour, not to harvest data. We make money from selling good tours, not from you. The privacy page spells it out in full.
